Singer and songwriter Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey is the daughter of English music producer Cameron McVey and Swedish singer Neneh 'Buffalo Stance' Cherry, who enjoyed her greatest success in the 1990s.

With her husband Cameron McVey (also producer of Massive Attack's debut album Blue Lines, Portishead's Dummy, and later albums by All Saints and the Sugababes), the now 61-year-old Neneh recorded her debut album Raw Like Sushi in 1988... the rest, as they say, is history.
