‘UNCLASSIFIABLE’ BOOK by Andrés Reisinger / REISINGER STUDIO
The work of the multidisciplinary artist Andrés Reisinger cannot be pigeonholed. With his extensive body of work, the Argentine artist living in Spain bridges both the physical and virtual worlds, creating a unique universe. On one day, he crafts fantasy realms inspired by computers, on another, he designs real furniture, and in between, he collaborates with major houses like Dior and Gucci to develop campaigns. And now, his first limited edition book is being released.
'With immense pleasure, I unveil to you all ‘Unclassifiable’, my first ever book. Entirely self-published and available in a limited edition of 1000 copies, ‘Unclassifiable’ has been crafted by the collective genius of philosophers, authors, artists, and curators. More than a simple publication: a transformative journey through art and design, a tactile and intimate odyssey through seven pivotal years of my career, an immersive and vivid tapestry of creativity, and yet another expression of the endless human inventiveness. ‘Unclassifiable’ was conceived as a reflection of a universe of limitless imagination and of a dialogue that is redefining the cultural landscape at large. It is a chronicle not just of my journey but of an era of ceaseless experimentation.
Five different chapters unfold one after the other, presenting my work under diverse abstract and poetic themes, as distinctive as expansive, that capture the essence of my practice. This 348-page hardcover book is a symbiosis of form and emotion; its layout and design mirror the meticulous detail and emotional resonance that I’ve always dedicated to my work and pay tribute to the craft of high-end book creation. ‘Unclassifiable’ is assembled by hand through age-old methods, featuring hand-applied colour plates on fine art paper, reflecting the artisan’s distinct touch.
“I believe, and some good critics agree with me, that a new chapter in the long history of our production of artworks and our understanding of their quality and meaning is only just beginning. This paradigm shift coincides, of course, with the advent of digital technologies. In the following pages I shall try to revive these old discussions around mimetics and methectics in an attempt to provide both an introduction to Reisinger’s creations in this context and an explanation why his works constitute a remarkable starting point for anyone willing to explore the new age of fine arts that might now be dawning” states in the book’s forward Florencio Noceti, whom I thank dearly for having accompanied me on this journey, alongside international author David Plaisant and Spanish-Argentinian artist duo Lamas Burgariotti.
I was thrilled to unveil ‘Unclassifiable’ in Paris during Paris+ par Art Basel 2023 at MODES boutique, the global omni-channel luxury retailer, with an installation that also featured the symbol of my practice, Dutch lifestyle brand Moooi’s Hortensia. While at first ‘Unclassifiable’ was conceived to simply represent my artistic journey, it soon grew into a transformative journey itself, of which you are all a crucial part. So, simply, thank you. See you all soon, in the next chapter of this adventure.
Yours truly,
Andrés
