SHOWCASE at UPDATE : Diversity and creativity from new talents to renowned photographers

At this year's UPDATE in Berlin, 20 selected photographers and retouch artists presented their portfolios – from promising new talents to established industry professionals. The range of work on display ranged from corporate productions to sports & outdoor, beauty & fashion, architecture, and stills.

Professional visitors had the opportunity to interact directly with the artists, exchange ideas, and initiate potential future projects. The informal portfolio viewing thus facilitated personal contact between clients and creatives.

The UPDATE SALON presents the SHOWCASE 2025

Photography and post-production, photography and AI, on-shoot photography, drone support,... there's a lot of movement in the field of professional photography, and new concepts continue to enter the market with unbridled force thanks to new tools. What's going on, what's staying put - who knows... one thing is certain, as always: sitting it out at home certainly won't work.

"Our SHOWCASE offers photographers and solo artists the opportunity to present their portfolios to a professional audience consisting of art buyers, art producers, and direct clients at the UPDATE SALON. We are currently working hard on producing the event..." Cyrus C. Halabian c/o UPDATE.Salon.

The beauty of UPDATE is that it offers creatives the opportunity to exchange ideas and simultaneously serves as a barometer of the mood. Of course, AI has long since become a ubiquitous part of the market. The question remains: which creatives understand how to integrate it most effectively so that both clients and consumers are delighted with the results?

Kukulkan - FELIX EISENMEIER personal work takes you to Tulum, Mexico

This series was taken in the city of Tulum in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Many know this place as a touristic destination of mainly US citizens. The city grows at an enormous speed without suitable infrastructure. Streets are being cut through the forests - the spaces between are cut down for eco-chic apartment-blocks. Life goes on and locals adapt their lifestyle.

The name Kukulkan is based on the mayan god of the winds and is a link to the "wind of change" that Tulum is going through.

My aim was to point out the contrast between the new, modern and touristic parts and the mostly poor and simple locals and indigenous people. Besides that it was important to me, to show the bold colors of Mexico in all of the images and to have a main focus on the composition.I recommend listening to latin sounds while enjoying the series to really dive in." Felix Eisenmeier, Fotograf

Tulum was a Mayan site. Due to increasing tourism, many Americans and Europeans have settled here since the 1970s alongside Mexicans from all parts of the country. They mostly run hotels, restaurants and handicraft businesses. Due to the economic development of recent history, Tulum has experienced rapid growth in importance, so that the city has been the center of the newly founded administrative district of the same name (Municipio Tulum) since 2008.

In December 2023, the new Tulum Airport was opened, which is located around 20 km west of the city. It offers both national and international flight connections.
