Vogue Ukraine cover story with boxer Oleksandr Usyk photographed by Charlie Gray

For the cover story of the Vogue Ukraine Spring Issue, Charlie Gray photographed Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Together with stylist David Bradshaw, the British photographer travelled to Kyiv, where he followed Usyk over three days – in the depths of winter and under the conditions of a country at war. The series shows the boxer in locations of personal significance: at the Motherland Monument, at the Olympic training center, and inside a boxing club.
