For the cover story of the Vogue Ukraine Spring Issue, Charlie Gray photographed Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Together with stylist David Bradshaw, the British photographer travelled to Kyiv, where he followed Usyk over three days – in the depths of winter and under the conditions of a country at war. Known for his cinematic portraits of figures such as Robert De Niro, Anthony Hopkins, and Zinedine Zidane, Charlie Gray focuses here on the person behind the athlete. Alongside the images, Usyk speaks in the Vogue interview about discipline, career, and his close connection to family and homeland.

It was founded in 1975 by designer Cari Zalloni (whose name, "CA-ZAL," serves as the brand's acronym) and his business partner Günter Böttcher. Typical of their eyewear designs are oversized geometric shapes, elaborate gold details (often 22-karat gold-plated), and complex bridge constructions.
