Set Sail the Virgin Way. The new and stylish cruise line by Richard Branson. Virgin Voyages is headquartered in Plantation, Florida, and a joint venture between the Virgin Group and Bain Capital. Since June 2020, Virgin Voyages has had one ship on the ocean, three more have been ordered, and each has a capacity of approx. 2,700 passengers. For the launch of the luxurious new Virgin travel service, PIANO AND THE FOX c/o ANDREA HEBERGER produced the animation of the first ship, the Scarlet Lady by billionaire Richard Branson, for Territory studio.

Piano and the Fox: “I was hired by Territory Studios to design and direct this brand film for Virgin Voyages. The ship was already built in 3D, but the brand was looking for someone to elevate emotions and bring Scarlet Lady to life. I designed and created various high-end shots which reflect the brand identity of Scarlet Lady, and we then developed the animation according to these shots. It has been aired at the launch of the ship and presented by both Sir Richard Branson and Boy George.”

‘Sailors’ is how the creatives from Virgin Voyages refer to their passengers. The ship built in the Italian shipyards of Fincantieri in Genoa holds next to 2700 sailors a further 1160 crew members. Children, by the way, are not permitted on the adult-only cruise ship. And instead of buffets, there are more than 20 restaurants and snack shops on board, and food is included in the price. Likewise, fitness courses, WiFi, beverages such as coffee, mineral water and even tips.

Virgin Voyages banks in its first season on short voyages. There are four- and five-day tours to Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. A five-day cruise taking passengers to Costa Maya costs, according to the website, between 1600 dollars for an inside cabin and 24,400 dollars for one of the larger suites.
