'One of the reasons I started designing jewellery was to reinvigorate some of the antique jewellery making techniques I had discovered during my time at the jewellery department at Sotheby’s. I wanted to recreate them, but in designs that made them relevant and wearable for women today. The whole idea of creating contemporary yet timeless pieces, designed to be passed down generations, is at the very core of what I do.' Jessica McCormack

'Our second cover for 10:10 features Rolex’s ‘GMT’, which has been an iconic zero-hours launchpad across 24 time zones... and beyond (words Alex Doak, photography Jess Bonham, set design Hana Al-Sayed, photo director Holly Hay). In short, Rolex’s groundbreaking – or should that be skyscraping? – traveller’s wristwatch has been the go-to for ‘the best of the best’. Even Jack Swigert relied on his GMT-Master throughout the stricken Apollo 13 mission, only briefly switching to Commander Lovell’s NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster when he needed a stopwatch to time a thruster burn for re-entry. Since 1955, when time-zone-hopping jet travel blasted passengers to new continents in the space of hours (and Rolex's boffins into keeping their track of time back home as well as away) their sector-defining cocktail of wrist gadgetry was so on-target that it has barely evolved since...' Jess Bonham’s playful imagery comes from her love of pattern and precision, reinvention and curious correlations. Her work embraces the translation of sculptural objects into photographs and moving image. Studying Illustration focused her enthusiasm for composition and photography within mixed media collages. She developed and adapted her technique to eventually work entirely within the camera. Jess is a texture enthusiast. She loves to mix luxurious textures with unexpected objects, finding a new form of beauty through narrative, intrigue and bold juxtapositions. ‘My work touches upon the world of sculpture and installation, often with an injection of humour and surprise.’
