Dive into a world of mysticism with ‘Neska Neska,’ a film and photo series for Nataal Media by photographer Caroline MACKINTOSH c/o SHOTVIEW Artists Management, featuring music duo Astra Laguna. Costume design was done by Gavin Mikey Collins, who reinterpreted African traditions to bring Caroline’s colorful vision to life.

“I am still so in love with these creations by Gavin Mikey Collins for our project ‘Neska Neska’ for Astra Laguna,” says Caroline Mackintosh, photographer.

Caroline continues: “Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this project and also to everyone who has taken the time to look at it! This project is very close to my heart, and after spending an extended amount of time in the Amazon, we received green ight to record this song by Shipibo maestro Rono Lopez. A year or two later, I found myself quietly dreaming up this dance performance when I was back home on African soil. That’s how this wonderful, otherworldly fusion between Peru and Africa was born.

A big thank you to @bummela, who produced this track with me for our ‘Astra Laguna’ project. Also, a big thank you to @gitagalina, @phoenixchasem, and @caefus_tladi, who danced and ran for hours in the desert to create this magical performance. You all rock 🤘.

Thanks to Gavin Mikey Collins for coming up with these wild costumes that are beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Thanks also, of course to my favorite DOP, @nickburtonmoore. I love working with you.
