Photographer Julia Marie WERNER c/o WILDFOX RUNNING joined forces with ARTHELPS and Clearwater (by Saving an Angel*) in support of a project which was just launched in the Amazon region. At the heart of the project are people from four indigenous nations: A’I KOFAN, SIEKOPAI, SIONA and WAORANI. We are delighted to present you the portraits by Julia Marie Werner here on GoSee.
ARTHELPS is an initiative by creatives and artists which helps people living under socially disadvantaged conditions in a very special way – with art: “With a variety of projects full of imagination, we offer them a platform where they can discover, explore and unleash their artistic potential. And we give them a voice. Because through exhibiting and selling the creations and products, their personal hopes and fears are made public.” GoSee: arthelps.de
*The Clearwater Project by SAVINGANANGEL has the following cause: The Amazon rainforest is home to 20% of the world’s fresh water resources. But still, the oil industry has abused the northeast of Ecuador for decades for oil production. Land which has been legally owned by the indigenous people of the Amazon for thousands of years. Rivers, streams and soil have been polluted, contaminated and rendered unfertile by the work oil extraction has brought with it. For years, the indigenous people and local farmers have been fighting a heroic legal battle, demanding the sanitation and restoration of their land. The Clearwater project wants to support them in their struggle. GoSee :savinganangel.org
