Christian KHAYÓ – generation regeneration – stands for reconnecting with nature, meaningfulness and community. He made up the name Khayó while he was looking for a word that describes the special feeling you get when you connect with nature. A term that gets to the very heart of a lifestyle inspired by this feeling.
Looking back on more than 10 years of experience as a lifestyle photographer for global brands, Christian creates photos today that are fueled by experiences lived and breathed – for brands, organizations and individuals who want to tell their stories with integrity and authenticity.
“I have a confession to make: the name Khayó, I made it up. Not to trick you, but because I was looking for a name to describe the particular feeling we experience when connecting with nature. A word that describes the quintessence of a way of life informed by this feeling. I owe gratitude to the Xhosa culture in South Africa for inspiring me with their word Khaya, which means home or dwelling place. In this sense, Khayó relates to nature respectfully as our primordial home. After ten years of shooting campaigns for global brands as a commercial lifestyle photographer, I chose Khayó as my pseudonym to embody a new portfolio focused on reconnection and regeneration. Now, I create images that are fueled by life experiences — For brands, organizations and individuals who want to tell their story with integrity and authenticity.
