Italian fashion designer Maria Grazia Chiuri is the first woman to head House Christian Dior, which was founded in 1946. Chiuri was appointed by the French fashion company Dior in 2016 as the first female artistic director of the collections haute couture, prêt-à-porter and women's accessories as the successor of Belgian national Raf Simons. Chiuri is the sixth to hold this position following founder of the house Christian Dior, after Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano and Simons.
