Jazz Up My Fat Tires - ANKE LUCKMANN portrays German-Liberian rapper Molley

German hip hop is dead… long live German hip hop! Do you remember the legendary sound of the late 90s and 2000s? The tunes of Samy Deluxe, Afrob, Dendemann, Curse, Kool Savas, and Freundeskreis had hip hoppers all of Germany feeling the vibe – and now it’s 2021, but does that mean the good times are gone? Not entirely, because Molley, whose newfound home is Cologne, is reviving the soul of German hip hop with his songs. Combined with new-school elements, he creates his very own sound which is not only fresh, timeless and lyrical, but also up to par with the legends from back in the day.

Born 1986 in Bong Town (Liberia), civil war in his home country drove the artist to Germany in 1990, where he discovered his passion for hip hop at the end of the decade. At seventeen, he rapped his first lines and signed his first deal in 2006 with BremenChild, a previously small, local label from Bremen. At the same time, this was the kick-off for several gigs in and around Bremen, for instance, as the supporting act for Sido, K.I.Z., Kollegah or at the after-party of Kool Savas.

In 2008, Molley decided to first focus on studying and getting a job, but the love for music never stops – something every real hip hop fan will most likely be able to relate to. Which is why Molley has been putting the pedal to the medal again since 2016 and has gotten off to a flying start – in the studio and on stage, alone or with band.
