Anne MENKE c/o KRISTINA KORB documented her family trip across Africa for VOGUE Living Netherlands. During this journey up & down the country from the north to the south, Anne Menke captured several facets of African culture with her camera. Her photos enable viewers to experience lots of different adventures with her family, e.g. riding camels or snowboarding the sand dunes. Viewers are granted insight into several personal family moments, giving them almost the feeling of having gone on the trip themselves.
In VOGUE NL, we read : It is a scene she will never forget, an anecdote she will still be telling ten years from now. Anne Menke (53): “We wanted to go on safari for the first time, something all of us had long wished for. That’s why we went to Serengeti House in Tanzania, a very beautiful resort. We were still sweating from the trip when we saw the pool from the terrace. And behind it, a few meters away, there were elephants grazing. Totally relaxed, just minding their own business. We could hardly believe our eyes. We saw a few elephants from the plane, but up close ... The boys almost went crazy!
In the days to come, too; you’d be relaxing, and an elephant would snuggle up to you. The employees of the resort said that the elephants even drank out of the pool sometimes. The same goes for the baboons, quietly running around our lodge in the evening when we were sitting around the campfire, curious and completely relaxed. This is in fact a great compliment to the Serengeti House: Wild animals that behave entirely undisturbed in the presence of humans show that they are treated with the greatest respect – unfortunately not something to take for granted in safari camps. But it was like that here, and that made it a really magical experience.” GoSee : vogue.nl///vogue-living-anne-menke-afrika-roadtrip/ and singita.com//singita-serengeti-house/
