“For me, automotive photography has always been about capturing an emotion – a candid, authentic moment frozen in time and derived from the experience of driving.
Yet as we continue to evolve into the age of EVs, I can’t help but notice that the connection between automobiles and humans is slowly being stripped away through automation. And while this may be discouraging for a purist, it is also invigorating as a creative because it allows the brain to experience a whole new world of sensations – like the weightless feeling of effortlessly cruising on the interstate at 90mph in complete silence. The replacement of engine acceleration noise with a relaxing, symphonic melody. Or even the ability to see your surroundings at all times via in-car cameras. There is something intrinsically futuristic about the world we are stepping into.
And these are the experiences that inspired me to find a new perspective for photographing the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+. And while it may only be the beginning, I can say I’m excited about what’s to come. Who knows. Maybe my next series will be captured entirely via Google Street View from the comfort of my home office.”
