Cazal Eyewear Collection – photographed by Sacha Tassilo Höchstetter for SPECTR Magazine No. 46
SPECTR Magazine presents the new eyewear collection from the iconic luxury brand Cazal. Photographer Sacha Tassilo Höchstetter is responsible for the visuals, translating the brand's distinctive design language and confident heritage into a modern aesthetic, complete with plenty of skin and even more hair gel.
Cazal is a German luxury eyewear brand known worldwide for its extravagant designs and its influence on pop culture. For example, Run-D.M.C. often wore the 607 model without lenses, creating a hype around the label.
It was founded in 1975 by designer Cari Zalloni (whose name, "CA-ZAL," serves as the brand's acronym) and his business partner Günter Böttcher. Typical of their eyewear designs are oversized geometric shapes, elaborate gold details (often 22-karat gold-plated), and complex bridge constructions. A core principle of Carl Zalloni's was that the brand should be recognizable by its design even without a logo.
Cazal is now part of the OWP Group (Optische Werke Passau).... more
