featured by GoSee EVENT : Andrea Ucini – Illustrated Moments’ on display at London’s ANNROY GALLERY from 25 February through 8 April ‘22

Illustrator Andrea Ucini is looking forward to the first show at the legendary Rankin studio in North London. Born in Italy, and currently living and working in Denmark, Andrea Ucini’s work takes a cross-cultural look at intimacy, emotion and expression. With a signature sense of humor and a nod to the surreal aspect of human nature, he continuously strikes just the right chord.

Ucini’s illustrations are internationally renowned, and he not only collaborates with brands but also with charity organizations and the world’s biggest publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian, Die Zeit or even New Scientist… The first cooperation with 360-degree agency RANKIN took place for the book ‘How to Die Well: A Practical Guide to Death, Dying and Loss’ (Rankin Publishing) in 2021. Rankin was immediately drawn to the “softness and yet emotional strength” in Andrea Ucini’s work and offered him this exhibition to personally present his work to the broader London art scene.

Rankin : “I’m known for photography, but I love all kinds of art. When something speaks to you, you want to share it, and Ucini’s work speaks to me. I’m proud to be able to give him a space and introduce those who follow me to his incredible work.”

Andrea Ucini : Illustrated Moments is taking place in the recently redesigned Annroy Gallery space at the RANKIN studio. On display are more than thirty works of art, including pieces from ‘How to Die Well’ and Ucini’s archive of illustrations. The exhibition kicks off the series RANKIN PRESENTS, demonstrating the strong commitment of RANKIN to popular visual culture.

Annroy – Located on the ground floor of the building is the legendary photography studio as well as gallery space, and the first floor houses offices associated with the studio. On the second and new third floor are private residential units, and the new fourth floor is RANKIN’s private penthouse. It was reconstructed by Trevor Horne Architects.

Location : Annroy Gallery, 110 – 114 Grafton Road, Kentish Town, NW5 4BA, Exhibition Dates : 25 February – 8 April, 2022, Monday – Friday, 10am– 6pm.

featured by RANKIN : ‘The Big Switch’ photographer Jordan Rossi & make-up artist Pablo Rodriguez present you their ‘VEGAN BEAUTY LOOKS’ for Spring/Summer ‘22 on GoSee

In his latest shoot, LGBTQ+ photographer Jordan ROSSI c/o RANKIN GROUP takes on the cosmetics world. With a series of beauty looks that focus on simple, everyday glamour and use only completely vegan or cruelty-free products, he shows you what’s possible today – without making animals suffer.

The motifs were created in close cooperation with make-up artist Pablo Rodriguez : “It’s always the right time to question where our beauty products come from. But now, vegan-based beauty materials are definitely easier to find, and there are a lot more of them available. Just go to any make-up brand website and search for “vegan”, and something will come up. That was not even an option a couple of years ago.”

The idea behind the production was to show wearable make-up looks rather than complex, overly creative looks : Jordan and Pablo wanted to encourage people to switch to vegan beauty products. At the heart of the shoot is the cast, whose lineup, of course, is made up of both men and women.

Photographer Jordan Rossi, who spearheaded the collaboration, explains : “Everyone wears make-up today. It’s not restricted to gender, so it was important to craft a series of images that reflects our reality with a cast of different genders and skin tones. And it’s important for beauty brands to understand and recognize that. Their audiences are changing, but so are the values of the audience. Just five years ago, vegan products weren’t a priority for most people, but vegan living is now at the forefront of our cultural consciousness.”

featured by RANKIN : ‘Proud Nation’ - Photographer and Director Jordan Rossi celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community in strong portraits and stories in coop with Stonewall Uprising, Models of Diversity, and creative agency RANKIN

What’s going on in the LGBTQIA+ community in 2021? This much is certain: It’s a lot more diverse and multifaceted than mainstream advertising would ever show. There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to queer advertising. Photographer and Director Jordan Rossi presents a realistic cross section of the LGBTQIA+ community in his photo series ‘Proud Nation’. The campaign, including its own website, was revealed on 28 June with the support of Stonewall Uprising and Models of Diversity as well as creative agency RANKIN.

‘Proud Nation’ presents a broad spectrum with a variety of different public figures, including British Black Pride founder Lady Phyll, author Riyadh Khalaf, stylist and model Kyle De'Volle, actor Nathaniel Curtis, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ season two star Bimini Bon Boulash, and the original members of the Gay Liberation Front.

“I’ve always strived to create work that I wish I had seen when I was younger, and that’s precisely what this is. Representation in advertising is extremely narrow. Even in 2021. I wanted to create a snapshot of the community to reflect how it stands today. From disabled LGBTQ+ people, to those who are asexual, or even the original trailblazers who have fought for our rights, and the activists who are changing the perceptions of what it means to be LGBTQ+ in this day and age. It’s been an honor to work with and photograph so many inspiring and thought-provoking individuals,” says Jordan Rossi.

“As a charity, we have spent the last ten years campaigning for more diversity and inclusion for people of every age, size, color, ability and sexuality in the advertising industry. With more than a third of LGBTQ+ adults also identifying as having a disability, it was so important for us to collaborate on this innovative project to help highlight the intersection of disability and LGBTQ+. Both communities are seriously underrepresented in the media, and we love that this project not only represents the trailblazers of the past but also reflects the community of today. We hope these amazing images will help to combat ableism and discrimination in every area of society.”

A further interview with Jordan on the project is available on HUNGER MAGAZINE, and the individual stories behind those portrayed are on proudnation.co.uk.

After taking English Literature at university, Jordan Rossi joined Rankin Film Productions in 2012 and began working for prolific British fashion photographer and publisher Rankin. On New Year’s Day, HungerTV premiered the video for DOPEBOYLDN’s track ‘S.O.F.B.N. (Sick Of F*cking Being Nice)’ which Jordan directed. In 2017, Jordan’s directorial work continued to gain momentum with his short fashion films ‘THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS’ and ‘Spirits of the Dead’ being selected by the London Short Film Festival and Bokeh Fashion Film Festival, respectively. In November 2017, he collaborated with queer musician Sakima on his videos for ‘DFT’ and ‘Daddy’ – the latter of which premiered with Nylon Magazine and has racked up over 400,000 views online. Jordan’s work has been featured by the likes of Hunger, Nylon, Vogue Italia, PromoNews, Desnudo Homme, Coitus, ContendMode, IntoMore, and Reform The Funk. Jordan continues to write, direct and produce his own projects while working at Rankin Film Productions and Hunger.
